Shanghai French School welcomes students aged 2 to 18, from kindergarten to the Baccalaureate, across its two campuses in Qingpu and Yangpu. An international and multilingual school, accredited by the French Ministry of National Education and part of the AEFE network, it provides high-quality education to over 1,530 students from 60 nationalities.

Shanghai French School is hiring a Laboratory Technician for its Qingpu campus, starting in the 2026 academic year.

As a key member of the Science Department, the Laboratory Technician supports teachers in both middle and high school by preparing, organizing, and assisting with laboratory experiments. He/she plays a vital role in ensuring the laboratories operate efficiently and safely.

The Laboratory Technician may also be involved in broader activities contributing to the daily life of the school community. 

Your Responsibilities:  

  • Prepare materials and products required for each practical session (Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences).

  • Prepare solutions, bottle samples, set up experimental apparatus, and perform functionality tests.

  • Prepare practical classrooms (set-up and equipment changeover).

  • Maintain and regularly update the inventory of laboratory products and equipment.

  • Manage the stock of chemical products.

  • Operate and maintain all laboratory devices (microscopes, cameras, computer equipment, data loggers, oscilloscopes, optical, mechanical, electromagnetic, and electrical apparatus, etc.).

  • Handle purchases and order follow-up (translation, reception, and verification of materials) and source new suppliers.

  • Maintain equipment, including minor repairs or arranging for external maintenance.

  • Create and develop experimental setups or tools, possibly in collaboration with external providers.

  • Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the laboratories and equipment.

  • Supervise the maintenance of biological cultures and live specimens.

  • Manage the use and allocation of laboratory materials.


  Hard Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science (Biology, Physics-Chemistry, Laboratory Sciences, or a related field).  
  • Previous laboratory experience, including in medical laboratories, is an asset.  
  • Fluent in Chinese (native level) and able to communicate confidently in French and/or English, both in writing and speaking.
