Student Life and Education Assistant - Primary School  - School Year 2026-2027

 

Shanghai French School is seeking a Student Life and Education Assistant to support the well-being, supervision, and daily activities of primary school students at its Qingpu campus. This permanent position, starting at the beginning of the 2026 school year, reports to the Primary School Director.

Shanghai French School welcomes students aged 2 to 18, from kindergarten to the Baccalaureate, across its two campuses in Qingpu and Yangpu. An international and multilingual school, accredited by the French Ministry of National Education and part of the AEFE network, it provides high-quality education to over 1,530 students from 60 nationalities.



Your Role 

Under the supervision of the Primary School Director, you will contribute to the smooth running of school life and the well-being of students through the following responsibilities:

1. Student Supervision and Safety

  • Supervise and oversee students during school and extracurricular times: recess, lunch, transitions, outings, and bus journeys.
  • Organize and maintain supervision schedules to ensure safety and clear responsibility allocation.
  • Reinforce rules during lunch periods, coordinating the support of volunteer parents for supervision, and ensure respect for school routines and collective rules.
  • Intervene in case of conflicts or risky behavior and actively participate in bullying prevention.

2. School Life and Administrative Support

  • Monitor absences, tardiness, and other school life records, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with the educational team and parents to ensure clear and effective communication regarding school life and student follow-up.

3. Educational Activities and Projects

  • Participate in the implementation and facilitation of educational or recreational projects and activities.
  • Keep an up-to-date inventory of games and educational materials.






Your Profile 

We are looking for a motivated professional with experience in working with children. The ideal candidate will have:  

  • Experience in a similar role or as a psychologist, educator, teacher, or youth animator;
  • Excellent command of French, both spoken and written; proficiency in English and/or Chinese is a plus;
  •  For international candidates: a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (Bac +3) and at least two years of professional experience in France or abroad, with a work certificate required for visa purposes;
  • Is empathetic, observant, and able to assert authority while maintaining positive relationships;
  • Works well in a team and communicates effectively with colleagues, parents, and volunteers;
  • Respects confidentiality and demonstrates professionalism and organization.

 The position is based at Qingpu campus.
